Ok, you might think I am a bit crazy and you are probably right. But I am really excited about the Oscars this year and that is probably because my favorite actor is finally among the nominees. Can you guess who it is? I can’t wait for the Oscars. Firstly because of the ceremony itself, and secondly because my hubby and I always make pancakes together and eat while watching the show.
Needless to say, we love pancakes. I wish I was skillful enough to recreate those amazing celebrity flapjacks, but I am not. That is not so bad, considering the fact that there are thousands of utterly delicious pancake recipes you can choose from and don’t require any special skills.
So, while I am deciding on which pancake recipe we’ll be making this year, here are my winner predictions – in flapjacks. Just for fun!
Pancakes #1: Best actor in a leading role – Ryan Gosling for ‘La La Land’

Ryan Gosling plays Sebastian, a jazz pianist who tries to succeed in LA, but whose life takes an unexpected turn. There’s lots of singing and dancing involved, but I must admit I didn’t like ‘La La Land’ so much. However, I did and do like Ryan (and which woman doesn’t) and root for him. Even the golden discs with his face seem more delicious than others. Totally bias, don’t care!
Pancakes #2: Best actress in a leading role – Meryl Streep in ‘Florence Foster Jenkins’

Meryl Streep plays Florence Foster Jenkins, a rich heiress who, in spite being completely talentless, desperately wants to be a singer and plans to give a concert at Carnegie Hall. Of course, Meryl will win. Who else? The pic is hilarious, though! LOL!
Pancakes #3: Best Actor in a Supporting Role – Dev Patel for ‘Lion’

Hmmm…I couldn’t find pancakes with Dev Patel’s face but I am convinced he’s going to win (Dev is the guy who acted in ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, remember that movie?). So, to honor the movie’s title, ‘Lion’ I suggest that you make lion flapjacks. This lion creation is super easy to make. Choose an easy and simple pancake recipe and involve your kids in the preparation.
Pancakes #4: Best Actress in a Supporting Role – Naomie Harris for ‘Moonlight’

Ok, for this category I was indecisive, but I am leaning towards Naomie Harris, who plays a drug addict named Paula, attempting to reconcile with her alienated son.
So, to honor the title of the movie she plays in, make moon flapjacks. The best part is that all pancakes look like full moons and you don’t have to bother. However, if you are skillful enough, inspire yourself with the space flapjack pic.
Pancake #5: Best Picture ‘Lion’

The story is about an Indian boy named Saroo, who is adopted by a couple in Australia when he is 5-years-old. When he grows up, Saroo does everything to find his family.
Inspired by the story about Saroo, I recommend that you try the Indian dosa recipe. Wrap it around a filling of your choice or serve with a simple dip and enjoy watching the skinny actresses walking the red carpet. Bet they haven’t eaten a pancake that is so satisfying in years!
Pancake #6: Best animated feature film – ‘My Life as a Zucchini’

This film is about a 9-year-old boy named Zucchini who loses his mother and moves into a foster home, where he makes friends with the other troubled kids, struggling with his own emotional problems and hoping for a better future.
Zucchini pancakes have decided on the winner, not me. I mean, when I saw the title, a lamp in my brain lit and said ‘zucchini flapjacks’. Have you tried them? You should!
